Averages move with the mix of homes that sold. Because of that, they do not tell you what any one home is worth. We do not make price predictions; instead, we show you what is actually selling near you.

Cambridge neighbourhoods

Cambridge was formed in 1973. It joined the former City of Galt, the Towns of Preston and Hespeler and the hamlet of Blair. Even so, each still has its own core. Learn more on the City of Cambridge website.

Galt (Downtown Cambridge)

Galt is the largest of the original communities, with stone buildings along the Grand River and a busy downtown. Homes here include century homes, postwar bungalows and newer condos. In addition, East Galt and West Galt give you mature streets close to the core.

Preston

Preston was built where the Speed River meets the Grand. It has a small-town main street on King Street East, along with older brick homes, semis and family subdivisions. Plus, Highway 401 is close by.

Hespeler

Hespeler is our home base. Hespeler Village has Queen Street shops and Forbes Park, with its historic millpond. Meanwhile, newer family subdivisions surround it to the north and east.

Blair

Blair is a small riverside hamlet with older homes and larger lots. It keeps a quiet, rural feel right beside the city. However, listings here are rare.

Fiddlesticks

Fiddlesticks is a newer east-side community around the Fiddlesticks Community Centre on Cowan Boulevard. It has family homes, parks and a community garden. As a result, it suits buyers who want a newer build.

Living in Cambridge

  • Schools: the Waterloo Region District School Board and the Waterloo Catholic District School Board serve Cambridge. Always confirm school boundaries with the board.
  • Parks and trails: Riverside Park in Preston, Soper Park in Galt and the trails along the Grand River.
  • Arts and culture: the Idea Exchange libraries, such as the Old Post Office on the river in Galt. There is also the Hamilton Family Theatre.
  • Shopping: Cambridge Centre, the Hespeler Road corridor and the three downtown cores. For events and recreation, see the City of Cambridge site.

Commute and getting around

Cambridge sits right on Highway 401. In addition, Highways 8 and 24 link it to Kitchener and Brantford. Grand River Transit runs local buses and the ION bus, which connects to the ION light rail in Kitchener. For trips to Toronto, check GO Transit for current bus and train connections.

Approximate drive times, traffic permitting: about 20 minutes to Kitchener and about 25 minutes to Guelph. Hamilton is about 35 minutes away, while Toronto is about an hour or more.

Buying in Cambridge

Cambridge real estate spans three towns in one. So the first step is matching the right part of the city to the way you live. We help with:

  • First, a meeting about your must-haves, once a lender or mortgage professional has helped you set your budget
  • Next, tours across Galt, Preston and Hespeler with honest notes on every home
  • Then, recent comparable sales so each offer rests on real data
  • Finally, coordination with your lawyer, inspector and lender, who give advice in their own fields

Selling in Cambridge

We have sold homes in every corner of this city, from Blair to Fiddlesticks. Here is our approach to selling Cambridge real estate:

  • First, pricing based on recent sales on and around your street
  • Next, simple, practical preparation advice
  • Then, professional photography and marketing
  • Finally, clear updates through offers, conditions and closing

Curious what your home could be worth? First, request a free home value review. Then we will walk you through recent sales near you.
